Benefits of Belonging to National Garden Clubs, Inc. (NGC), Central Region (CR), and Michigan Garden Clubs, Inc.(MGC)

  • Education
    • Classroom Style for the four NGC schools listed below: Each school is composed of four courses generally held over a two-year period: The successful student of GSS, LDS, and ESS earns Consultant status. After completing FSS successfully, the student earns NGC Accredited Flower Show Judge status.
        • Gardening Study (GSS).
        • Landscape Design (LDS)
        • Environmental Study (ESS)
        • Flower Show (FSS)
      • Refresher: Education to keep current with GSS, LDS, and ESS and opportunity to earn “Master status.”
      • Symposium: Education to keep current with FSS and opportunity to earn “Master status.”
        • NOTE: A person completing all schools successfully, earns the 4-Star standing and after earning “Master Status” in all schools, earns the 5-Star standing.
    • Informal-suitable for club program—lesson plans available from NGC.
  • District Leadership Development (aka President’s Meeting) Club Presidents, Vice Presidents and those interested in aspiring to become a leader have the opportunity to attend to develop their leadership skills further.
  • Youth Gardening Programs. Youth gardening information on the NGC and MGC websites.
  • Scholarships Available for students in related fields of study.
  • Programs/Projects: Support available from NGC and MGC
  • NGC Grants Available
  • Annual Awards. Club, region and national prestigious awards(some cash awards) available to adults and youth.
  • Eligible for 501(c)3 inclusion under MGC group exemption umbrella.
    • Enables a 501(3) club to operate as a non-profit organization and to solicit tax-deductible donations from corporations and individuals.
  • Opportunity to serve others in leadership positions at various levels; local, district, state, region or national.
  • Club officer and club organizing materials and assistance are available from NGC and MGC.
  • Calendar program. Photographs from the photography contest are used in the production of the Calendar of Beauty.
